Pool surrounds

New pool builds and full pool restorations alike, with coping, decks and waterline finishes shaped for the water's edge. Stone tiling, decorative concrete, decorative overlays and any bespoke, custom surround, built to handle wet feet, sun and chlorine without losing their looks.

New Project · Tangiteroria, Northland

Stone. Timber. Concrete.

Three distinct appearances. One continuous pour.

A bespoke decorative concrete pool surround that brings together Roman slate, timber-imprinted borders and a custom compass medallion, all placed in one continuous in-situ pour. Every line of the geometric layout was tooled by hand, with contrasting colour hardeners separating stone from timber. What reads as natural stone and solid timber sleepers is one meticulously crafted concrete surface.

Pre-pour walkthrough: the design explained before a drop of concrete was placed

Layered Roman slate
Slate-imprinted concrete finished with layered antiquing and multiple colour stains, for a rich, naturally weathered texture.
Timber that turns corners
Timber-stamped borders with a precision mitred joint at every change in direction.
Solid-sleeper edges
Internal pool edges and outer vertical faces are timber-imprinted, and the dropped, overhanging coping carries the grain across both faces, reading as substantial timber sleepers.
A compass at the centre
A custom decorative compass medallion set into the Roman slate.
The skimmer disappears
A concealed stainless steel skimmer lid, individually detailed with matching timber and slate impressions so it blends into the design.
Built tougher than it looks
Beneath the artistry, D12 steel cages run through the entire pour. Every surface we build is designed so the structure performs as well as the finish, and stays easy to maintain.
Sealed for grip
A premium extra-strength sealing system, with decorative anti-slip aggregate broadcast into the first coat and locked beneath a protective finishing coat.

Planning A New Pool

Get us in early

The best surrounds come from being part of the conversation before the pool ever arrives on site. Layout, levels and design worked through early, so the concrete around it is built once, and built right. If a new pool is on the plans, bring us in at the design stage.
